The Asia-Pacific Open FLL® Championship and Invitational FTC® tournament will be the biggest FIRST® tournament to be run in Australia to date. Teams from all over the world, will travel to Sydney and compete at Macquarie University. These teams are those selected by the FIRST authorities in their respective countries and will compete for the Champions Award (FLL) or Inspire Award (FTC) while maintaining the spirit of Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®.
The tournament will feature 30 FLL teams competing and presenting their innovative solutions for the 2012 Senior Solutions challenge. The FLL robots, designed and built over the past year by teams of 9-16 year olds, are built wholly out of LEGO, and complete various tasks autonomously.
At the same time, 24 FTC teams, with students 14-18 years old, will be using their metal-chassis robots to play the 2012-2013 game Ring It Up!
Both competitions will run from Thursday the 4th July to Saturday the 6th July at Macquarie University campus in North Ryde, NSW. The event is free for spectators, so come along and be inspired!
