FIRST Australia Robocamps are a unique and inspiring way to engage students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).  Using the design process thinking model and a hands-on approach, students will learn to design, build and code LEGO Education SPIKE™ Essential & SPIKE™ Prime "robots" (FIRST LEGO League) and/or Rev Edu Bots (FIRST Tech Challenge), to complete a series of challenges.  Classes are offered from a beginner to advanced level in our purpose-built, engineering workshop facilities at Macquarie University.  The camps are run professionally with fun and education at the core of everything we do.

Camps are managed by FIRST Australia, facilitated by Macquarie University staff and members of the Thunder Down Under robotics team. We are committed to making sure your child is safe and having fun at all times.

Current Robo Camps

We’re going on an adventure! I wonder what we’ll see?  Will we go by car, plane, boat or submarine?  Join us as we explore the great outdoors while also learning to use our computational thinking skills to identify a problem, explore cause and effect, describe and create a series of sequences, and identify patterns while continually testing and debugging programs.

Students will design, build, and code a series of models to explore this theme. This program uses icon and coding blocks.

Fast rides, high rides, dizzy rides, they are all a part of this robotics adventure.  Join the team as they learn to design, build, code and modify their robots to bring this Amusement Park to life.

Students will design, build, and code a series of models to explore this theme. This program uses icon and coding blocks.

Our introductory course through which students will learn the foundation skills of designing and programming autonomous robots using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robots.  Using mechanical and software engineering skills students will learn how to build and code their robot to drive, move objects and complete challenges. Roll up, Roll up! Come bear witness to death defying feats at the FIRST Australia Circus Showcase. Juggling, tightrope walking, lion taming, acrobatics.  Do you have what it takes to design and code an autonomous robot to complete a series of circus challenges? This course should be completed after robotics 101 or with prior experience.
